Nostr Vault 3.1.0 update available for all platforms!
Web of Trust
- My Web has a "Zombies" card: follows who have gone quiet, with a link out to Plebs vs Zombies. The app never unfollows anyone. (iPhone, Android)
- The Web of Trust tab opens faster. (iPhone, Mac)
- The Web of Trust globe is calmer and uses less battery. (Android)
- The web app's Web of Trust tab now matches the iPhone: Open in WoT, the layers about you, My Web and Rebuild your web. (web)
Accounts
- Hold or slide the account picture in the dock to open the account menu. It sits in the middle of the screen, with each account's picture, name and short npub, a check on the active one, and a red dot on any account with something new. (iPhone, Android)
- The account switcher shows how many new things each account has.
- When the app holds two or more accounts, each notification says which account it's for.
- The Vault tab has chips to show All accounts or just one.
- Tapping another account's line in the Vault switches to that account and opens it.
- A new setting keeps alerts quiet when your own accounts tag each other (off by default). The Vault shows account pictures, and a "Switched to …" bubble confirms a switch. (iPhone, Android)
- Each account's notifications also come from that account's own inbox relays.
- Each account signs its own photo uploads. (Android)
- Unread badges count only what the Vault list actually shows.
- An account without a key on this device says "No signing key". (Android)
Relays
- If your account already has a relay list, the app reads and posts with it, instead of with our starter relays.
- A new account picks its own relays during setup: we suggest some, "Use recommended" takes them, and you can remove any or add your own. Nothing is published until you confirm.
- Settings › Relays is a draft until you tap Save. It shows "Yours" apart from "App defaults", and nothing is published without Save. (iPhone, Mac, Android)
- The app never signs one of your lists by itself. Save starts from the newest copy on the network, and a "none" from a single relay no longer counts as "you have none". (Android)
- Your media server list keeps the order you set, and is published only when you tap Save. (iPhone, Mac, Android)
- New installs start on five read relays (Primal, Damus, Snort, btcforplebs, wellorder).
- Signing in with an existing account also reads the servers that account has published.
- The app asks relay.damus.io far less often. It bans busy addresses, so this keeps you from being blocked there.
- The relay restarts cleanly after it was stopped. (Android)
- Live stream "who's live" also asks your feed relays, as Android already did. (iPhone, Mac)
Media
- Delete a photo properly: in Media, hold a photo. "Delete from media servers" takes it off your outside servers and keeps your own copies. "Delete everywhere" takes it off your devices too.
- A delete reaches every server that may hold the file, not only the first one.
- "Delete everywhere" also reaches your Macs over the mesh. (Android)
- The Media tab makes far fewer calls to media servers.
- blossom: links show as pictures and videos, checked against their fingerprint.
- Thumbnails in the condensed and threaded feeds show the whole photo instead of a cropped square.
- A quoted note's photo is shown whole, or as a small square on condensed lines.
- Swiping between photos is steadier, and the next photo is already loaded.
- Setup and the widget say "Media servers" and "your vault" instead of "Blossom".
- "Copy link" for a file in your vault uses http for an onion address. (iPhone, Mac, Android)
Composer
- A photo or video starts uploading the moment you pick it, with a progress ring, and its link goes where your cursor was.
- One Preview button beside Post shows the note as it will look, then flips to Edit.
- Paste a note1 or nevent link and it becomes a quote. Preview shows the quoted note, and its author is tagged so they're told. (iPhone, Mac, Android)
- Removing a photo from a draft deletes it only if no other note shows it. Nothing is deleted after you post. (iPhone, Mac)
- New emoji picker with search and every emoji in one grid. (iPhone, Mac, Android)
- One Magic Paste icon on every platform: a clipboard with sparkles.
- Picking a photo no longer counts as leaving the composer. (Android)
- Fewer signer requests while you type (draft autosave). (iPhone, Mac, Android)
Feed
- Notes open as a thread page you can swipe back from, not a sheet. (iPhone)
- On a thread page, each reply shows a one-line quote of the note it answers. (iPhone, Mac)
- "Reply to" names the author of the parent note. (iPhone, Mac, web)
- The threaded feed keeps cards in place while you're looking at them. (iPhone, Mac, Android)
- 3D objects show in quotes and on the thread page.
- A live stream inside a note shows as its live tile, with picture, LIVE, viewers, title and host. Tap to play. Once off air the tile says ENDED.
- Live stream page: Share as a note (a short "Live now" note), profiles, photos in chat, mute, follow and full screen.
- Live chat opens at the newest message instead of scrolling through history.
- The mini player shows only on screens with the bottom bar. (Android)
- Pull down from the top of a post page to close it. (iPhone)
- A new profile keeps loading until its relays answer, instead of showing empty.
- Hashtag feeds show their names.
- Thread cards no longer repeat the parent, show the right reply label, and drop the lone "…". (Android)
- The note bar has an Event Info (broadcast) button in place of Web of Trust. (Android)
- Live Following checks every person you follow, not just the first batch. (Android)
DMs
- No message alert before a message can be opened, and none for messages from your own accounts. Messages you send no longer notify your other devices.
- Message requests on relays that require you to log in now show up. (iPhone, Mac)
- relay.damus.io is among the default DM relays for new installs. (Android)
Zaps and wallet
- A one-tap zap carries only your words: no more "Zap from Nostr Vault".
- The custom amount screen has an optional "Add a comment" box, empty unless you type in it.
- Bitcoin sweep prices the fee for every coin it moves. (iPhone)
- Bitcoin sweep checks the address is a mainnet address and asks you to confirm. (Android)
Web app
- Compose: photos go in at the cursor with upload progress and cancel, Post waits for uploads still going, and a live preview.
- Posts go only to your own Write relays. The web app no longer adds relay.btcforplebs.com, relay.damus.io and relay.snort.social to every post.
- If you have no relay list yet, the defaults aren't treated as your own relays.
- Write articles and polls from Compose.
- Article reader: Like, Comment and Zap bar, full-screen images, names in comments, spam comments and highlights hidden.
- Live stream page as on the iPhone: sharing, follow, chat media, mute, report, zaps, full screen.
- Discover feed, and Media gets the Following / Global choice.
- Edit Feeds: show, hide and reorder the feed picker.
- Following's new posts arrive live instead of every 2 minutes. A "New posts" pill on Global, Hashtag, Discover and Popular.
- Feed visits and reloads ask relays only for what changed.
- Messages: inbox rows like the iPhone, their face beside their bubbles, one Requests row. No empty state while requests wait.
- Opened DMs stay sealed by your signer. A reload opens only new ones.
- Hold the avatar to switch account. The sidebar names how you signed in.
- Likes and reposts show at once and roll back if they fail, with Liked / Zapping / Zapped pills.
- Repost waits out your send delay, with Undo. Send Delay setting: Off, 5 s or 10 s.
- Zap button on posts (on by default), zap the artist from Now Playing, and article zaps pick an amount.
- Settings: Default Reaction emoji, lines per post, Autoplay Videos.
- Photo and video location is removed before every upload.
- Never Connect (your blocked-relays list) is enforced.
- Wallet: balance up top, card order and empty state like the iPhone.
- Profile: Share with a QR code, full-size picture, Follow changes at once.
- Marketplace: Message seller, and seller links go to their profile.
- The player bar floats on every screen while something plays.
- Media grid draws small kept copies, and video tiles load only when on screen.
- Sign out clears that account's leftovers. Reset Everything is in Settings, and Unlock's Sign out asks first.
- Get the app: on a phone, the welcome screen links to TestFlight (iPhone) or Zapstore (Android).
Mac
- The "Start Vault Automatically" setting is honoured: opening the menu bar panel no longer starts the relay.
- The main window fits a 13-inch MacBook Air.
- Clicking a notification after the app was closed opens its window.
- An emptied write relay list stays empty instead of coming back as the starter relays.
- Relays that don't support fast sync are remembered for a day instead of making the app wait each launch.
- Mac-sized text, working Settings links and fuller app menus.
Android
- Starts faster: the relay is ready about half a second sooner.
- One connection per relay instead of several, and the feed survives short trips to another app.
- Fixed a crash in the websocket connection. The relay holds the phone awake only when it needs to.
- Uses less mobile data: stopped repeated background downloads.
- Less stutter early in the feed, and each note's text and signature are checked only once.
- Gives memory back after heavy use. The Relays screen opens at once.
- The mini player stays off the composer, and the media server picker opens full height.
- Article reader hides likes, comments and highlights from people you blocked.
- Reels and the media gallery respect FIPS-only mode.
iPhone
- iPad: feed controls sit in the feed column header.
- Stopped constant reconnecting while the app sits idle (also on Mac).
- The tab bar no longer covers the keyboard in Search.
- The notification chime mixes with music instead of pausing it.
- Media Servers no longer shows a fake "VPN active" row.
- Smoother tab bar while scrolling.
Fixes
- Stopped background loops that kept downloading the same data (media queue, sound-only live streams, redials, DM fetches).
- A new account's first follow is kept even if a relay doesn't answer.
- A stranger's posts are no longer cut off on their profile.
- Feed parsing and grouping moved off the main thread, so scrolling stays smooth. (iPhone, Mac)
- Fewer signer prompts with a remote signer: it backs off when the signer is slow. (iPhone, Mac)

Great update! Keep an eye on those "Zombies" and stay connected. Always good to have faster performance options.
