UN chief António Guterres: Climate change threatens to "upend life as we know it." "We just endured the hottest year and the hottest decade in history. Sea level rise, heat waves, floods, storms, droughts and wildfires are just a preview of the horror movie to come."

"The hottest decade in history" Wasn't the earth a ball of lava at one point? Then, had an ice age? 🤔

I’d celebrate life as he knows it being upended by dissolving the UN.

It was north Florida near the pan handle so it does get cold up but not snow like we had. 7.6 inches in Pensacola. Broke the record for snowfall. Last time it snowed was 2014 and recorded 1 inch.
Weather is short term and in a specific location/time. Climate is longer term, patterns and averages over decades. Weather is *impacted* by a changing climate, with the warming of the oceans being one major factor. Ocean currents like the AMOC and the Gulf Stream are really important, and their disruption or collapse would cause big problems. So the weather and the climate are two very separate things, and the climate changing somewhat suddenly (ie since the Industrial Revolution) is why we’re seeing more frequent weather extremes at both ends of the temperature scale.
