The great thing about Strike is that it will make you think of the racial slur that it rhymes with when you interact with it image

Anecdotally, you’re the one that got me to think of that for the first time ever so maybe it’s just a you thing? Is your brain hijacked watching UFC broadcasts too? Fascinating…….

Nah. This is definitely more of a retarded UK regulation issue. And the fact that this predicament is first sprouting up in a yerpian region is unsurprising, imo.
Fuck strike. They removed Australian currency so it's useless to me now. Other than being able to convert Btc to and from fiat there's no reason to use kyc Bitcoin wallets
In Australia, most of the time, spending and gifting Bitcoin falls under "personal use asset" It gets complicated if theres a large price swing up before spending though.
This seems to be a UK problem. A side effect of regulation and not completely strike fault (giving them benefit of a doubt). Could be wrong if it is the same for all countries

Honestly, I don’t really blame Strike too much, they’re basically just a bank and it is the Australian regulators that are the problem, just as UK regulators are responsible for the horrific screenshot above. But this is the end result of Lightning, where everything shifts to custodial garbage because there’s no decent way for normal people to run a Lightning node of themselves. If he received the payment on blockchain in a noncustodial manner than just saying it is his own money would be MiCA compliant. But custodians are regulated in a way that blockchains are not. And most normal people cannot reliably run a LN node, so Lightning payments become 99% custodial in reality.

well, yes it is national regulators, but it is also a protocol problem of LN, which forces people to custodial solutions:
Because of custodial regulation all Lightning wallets are migrating to use Spark, which claims to be noncustodial. But Spark is a central server that sees everything, can block anything and whose claims of "unilateral exit" are at best vastly oversold: (see how even at 1sat/vb and a small amount of users -- meaning small transaction trees -- you already lose 10% of your money, at 5sat/vb you lose 40% and so on). In fact the situation is only getting worse. Before we had a dozen of different custodians spreaded throughout the globe, soon it will be a single proto-custodian controlled by a US corporation.

Yes, Spark combines simultaneously all the negatives of both custodial and noncustodial services. Noncustodial wallets introduce additional risks, in that people can lose their private key or have it jacked by hackers. The tradeoff was sovereignty. Spark retains these risks while introducing surveillance and censorship capabilities, meaning that users gain absolutely nothing for the risks imposed by noncustodianship. It’s worse than traditional bank account, where if your credit card gets jacked you report it to the bank and lose nothing, and if you lose your wallet you can go to the bank and get new cards issued and lose nothing. It is, in my mind, significantly worse in architecture than traditional finance.

Well, Core must be motivated to deossify somehow, and implement the features and respect the design decisions that were outlined by Satoshi. I believe that the solution that fiatjaf and others seem to support (and myself as well) is drivechains, which will be demonstrated in the upcoming ecash fork. I am not absolutely sure that drivechains are the solution, many people have outlined concerns with the need for miners to participate in governance, but I am relatively sold. Regardless, Bitcoin has benefitted immensely from past controversial forks (it might not exist at all if Bitcoin Cash hadn’t found and magnanimously helped fix the inflation bug for everyone) and we should encourage any honest and decent man of good character that earnestly wants to fork Bitcoin to demonstrate new ideas and continue to improve the software in parallel to core. You can also help by simply refusing to use anything that introduces centralization in cryptocurrency and warning others of the problems. This includes, to my eyes, LN, but others have disputed that point given that you can, in theory, have decentralized, noncustodial LN, but in practice less than 1% of people ever will do so due to the inherent qualities of the protocol.
What does that mean? We chose something and we can never change our minds? No one should have a blind devotion to Bitcoin. Bitcoin was always only our best chance of fixing the problem of government monopoly over money issuance and related evils, not an idol to be worshipped. If we spot something else that might give us a better chance we should definitely switch immediately. With that said, Bitcoin is still miles ahead of anything else. If eCash proves to work even a little bit we may have a better chance of miners activating it on Bitcoin and that will be great. If not, and if Bitcoiners don't come up with any better solutions (it is very unlikely they will, and even if they get a better solution it is even more unlikely that they will be able to activate it) that will mean that Bitcoin will die slowly over many decades. This will be bad as most people will not see it happening. Our only hope in this case is that eCash captures more users from outside the current Bitcoin sect and gets bigger faster than Bitcoin gets smaller. I guess this will have to happen anyway if it has any chances anyway.
1. Bitcoin can only be saved by activating Drivechain. 2. Core will never merge or support Drivechain activation (or any soft-fork). 3. Miners won't move their asses until they see sufficient real-world evidence. Any reasonable Bitcoiner accepting these premises should support the eCash hardfork even if they are initially disgusted by the idea of betraying the Bitcoin brand and the maximalist cult (I was myself), because from these premises we have to conclude that the only thing that can save Bitcoin is a real-world thriving ecosystem of useful sidechains paying fees to miners that finally convinces them to activate Drivechain via CUSF.

I haven't used Blitz in a long time. Thanks for the reminder. I should be paying more attention to them.
I like wallets that have a web app and not just mobile. I do all my jerky business via desktop, so I like Blitz for that. I use Rizful as my zapping wallet (custodial) but I either don't keep more than a couple thousand sats on it, or drain it daily, so it's not a risky wallet for me.

WHAT ABOUT #SATOSHI COINS ? BURN EM' OR SPEND THEM? #ASKNOSTR How many types ecash ? Please explain.
The comparison of traditional finance is not the barometer- In my humble opinion*. Only thing that matters is "is it 99.99% safe?" "Does it improve usability?" And thats about it. *my humble opinion means that im willing to change my opinion humbly at any time irrefutable evidence is present. Thank you, for reading my note I appreciate your time and effort explaining things.
It is not in the money that we will find an escape. 🛑The real path forward is in the transmutation of what really matters—and it is that inner work which will guide us closer to the collective consciousness. The deeper problem is that the legacy matrix wants us to continue to be entertained, obsessed, and distracted by money. Why? Because focusing entirely on numbers robs you of the vital energy needed to transmute and make the real gold—the internal gold required to transform yourself and the collective consciousness. 🧠⚡Once we collectively understand that tools like Bitcoin are just the baseline infrastructure, and not the final destination, the faster we can all reunite as a collective and regain our true power.Stop looking at the currency. Start looking at the consciousness. 👁️✨If you are ready to stop chasing shadows and start running your own mind, hit Follow. 🤝Zap this post if you are actively transmuting your internal gold today! 👇⚡#nostr #shadowwork #sovereignmind #plebchain #consciousness #unprogramming

> "is it 99.99% safe?" >"Does it improve usability?" if this is the standard, Apple Pay with a credit card wins every time
Bro we have completely different mission the banks want to earn interest. #bitcoin wants per to per payments. Am I wrong ?

most people *do not care* if the payment is peer to peer or not. They want it to work well and not cause problems. Look at the OP. He had a $5 payment jammed up. The CS graduate developer of the most popular Nostr client in the world is describing 30% failure rates with zaps. Custodial LN has become untenable because of regulators, noncustodial LN is completely unreliable when you get any significant number of people using it. It’s not working. Bitcoin is now competing with Monero. Because Monero is banned in so many jurisdictions, nearly all of its value is because of its use as a medium of exchange and not speculative. In contrast, most of Bitcoin’s value comes with jerkoff treasury companies/Saylor types trying to convince pensioners to buy it. This is not sustainable. If you want peer to peer payments, you have to have a payment network that will attract peers. Using LN as money has become garbage in nearly the entirety of the world.
The video in this page is good if you want a short talk: If you prefer to read then maybe start with the article I wrote when I finally understood the idea many years ago (on that page). Paul Sztorc's explanations apparently don't click easily for most people, but to me they are pretty good. I guess you have to try multiple of these explanations from others until one of them makes sense. Drivechain enables so much it's hard to describe, we wasted too much time defending the idea from bad repeated criticisms we forget to advertise the benefits: - absurd self-custodial scaling for payments, such that Bitcoin payments for everything everywhere can finally be a reality; - enabling everything that can be imagined as working on a "blockchain" immediately in Bitcoin without reducing decentralization; - all the network-effect, developer time and interest ever poured into other shitcoin projects going back to Bitcoin to make it immediately at least 3x in size and importance from the getgo (with of course much more growth that will come from this); - perfect privacy (not for all forms of transactions, but at arms reach of anyone -- and could be the default for most payments); - fixing the security budget (Bitconeirs in general like to forget about this, but someone has to pay the miners) while keeping transactions cheap for everybody; - finally a chance that Bitcoin will replace fiat once and for all and become the money of the world.
incredible. i have lots of respect for you. you’re also hilarious. if anyone is gonna shitpost about strike, i’m glad it’s weev

I only watch Strickland fights because he's clearly racist and hates women. But I won’t fucking watch some central asian mountain monkey zigger lover unless he’s beating them into the mat
Sztorc is also developping Simple pool as a final open solution to decentralized mining
