my father was a child slave from the age of 4 to 14, joined the military, and ended up working with the KGB. It was kinda painful to realize his world as a single father during my toddler and adolescent years. I did not mean to offend. But yes you are right, I was lucky in some ways to have the harsh exposure to real life early on. I was unlucky to have missed out on other things in my childhood. Forgive my harshess, you hit a nerve with the word "lucky". I guess we are all luckier than the majority of people on earth and have to let that sink in.
