I think I finally understand what sets nostr apart. Nostr isn’t a refuge. It’s a filter. Nostr doesn’t keep people out, it just refuses to subsidize the behaviors that ruined everywhere else. People needing external validation can’t get it here. People needing algorithmic amplification stay quiet. People needing centralized power to enforce their worldview stay away entirely. What remains is uncomfortably real. Maybe that’s exactly why most people are afraid to come over.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Uncomfortably real is my absolute requirement for life. Avoidant / fearful living does nothing but create isolation and superficiality
It’s taken me awhile to reprogram my mind to speak authentically and recognize that the intent in doing so is valued here. It’s been difficult on platforms that have so many obstacles for engagement and that incentivize click/ragebait over quality. Looking forward.
