I want to knit! Everyone else on Nostr seems to be doing it. I usually don't follow trends, but I like this one! ππ§Άπ§΅π§£π§€π§¦π

i can knit. crochet is probably more adaptable to super low tech inputs tho. just need shears for sheep and the hooks can be carved out of wood or bamboo.
if shtf such skills would be extremely valuable. as would the tools to shear the sheep.
would also be good to learn about natural dying techniques and stuff like how to rett various fibre plants like hemp and kenaf, even stringy barks of some trees, to make cordage and rope.
rope making would be a neat complement to go with the knitting, but more suited to men, and useful for stuff like sailing and animal husbandry.
a really approachable way, easy for kids too https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/poe-the-angler-fish-learn-to-crochet-kit-the-woobles/1147691948

That's really cool!
I also know how to knit, but I'd like to get American sourced material. Your idea of getting sheep and learning to sheer them and then to use that sounds like a great idea, but I'm not sure I want to spend my time on that... π€π
i hope they make more bugs! like worms and millipedes!

yeah, maybe not now, but i think in the future, the reasons to be prepared to revert back to the steam age or before, sheep are a staple, that covers so many needs for a homestead, including amusing the children.
