Yesterday morning I added a Monero payment target to my profile to compare with bitcoin zaps. @Constantin asked me how it went, so I thought maybe I’d just share an update every 24 hours for the next few days. Nostr activity fluctuates, especially on weekends and holidays, so giving it a week or two should give a better picture for comparison.
First 24 hours:
- 620 sats (≈50¢ USD)
- 0.0086934 XMR (≈$4.66)
I was genuinely surprised I received any XMR at all, especially the first day 😂 I wasn’t surprised at the relatively low bitcoin zap amounts, though, as that has been the trend recently.

This is like us in 22’-23’.
We were excited that nostr enabled bitcoin and millions of sats were flowing.
Same with xmr. They are just excited the coin can even move. It will slow down.
Could be. I had that thought too
Maybe Monero Bros aren't waiting for God Candles, are not in it to get rich and treat it like money and not an investment? 🤔
Wow bitcoiners are cucks.
Stingy AND not the default currency for online drug markets
I had that thought too 😂🤝 Many possible hypotheses. Curious to see what the evidence says after a couple weeks.
Moneristas taking over Nostr 😜
Is that like a Monero person that works at Starbucks?
“Post 👏 better 👏 content”
😆
All the content in the world won’t fix a broken discovery system.
If I ever add another payment coin, just know that I am swapping that shit for #Bitcoin IMMEDIATELY. 🤷♂️
Nothing holds a candle to #BTC. 🤙

I guess the government can’t use that one against us anymore.

Everyone’s scared of lightning right now
That zap tho 👀🔥 It’s an interesting time for sure. Lightning is probably my favorite thing about bitcoin. For me it’s what allows Bitcoin to be fun to use.
