good morning, i love you.
my journaling practice has reached one year old. i found a method that works for me. and holy moly, it works for me. it has been incredible and worthwhile.
my thought patterns have improved - they are less meandering, they are more purposeful, and they more often return to a strong core after getting lost.
my self understanding has exploded - i have been able to zoom out and see patterns of stuck points throughout life..., find themes that need holding or healing..., see the narratives i relive...
my grace towards others has increased, as has my willingness to take time and space for my self and my psyche.
compassion all around!.
my thoughts, words, and actions are all more intentional.
wild. invaluable. i cannot believe how much i have learned. i am ecstatic.
i started a new year today with the added stat of minutes meditated.
let’s fucking go.

Amazing, what method works for you? Any advice to someone who’s impressed/jealous of 100 days?
i type my words. i have no lower limit, so i don't feel bad if i jump on for three sentences then go back to my babies, depending on life. i copy the word count at the beginning of the next day and erase the previous entry. if there are important or poignant or beautiful passages, i copy them out to a different document. the whole top my writing page is just dates and word count., so i feel accomplished while not feeling bogged down by my past meanderings.
it has been years of seeking something that works for me. kind of just stumbled into this one random april day 😂❤️. my daily average word count was 954.
lowest word count was 18 (oof, bad stomach bug)
highest word count was 3259
That's a great win!
Journaling is a wonderful, incredibly rewarding activity. When I was 12, my mom forced me to keep a journal while on a two month long trip. I hated it. Never wanted to do it again. Then I reread it when I was 18. I loved reliving those memories and reflecting on the adventures. Have been journaling for many years now.
The following is probably tldr, but it's communication I had with a good friend who also journals. All I can say is congrats and keep it up!
Dear ___, As one of the few people I know that journals, I had to pass on the following that I found.
There have been times that I wonder why I journal, and that probably no one will ever read my entries... and in the end, I always come back to the fact that journaling is not done for others benefit (although it could benefit others), but rather personal improvement and gain. With that said, look at the following list!
Journaling offers numerous benefits that can positively impact your mental, emotional, and even physical well-being. Here are some of the key advantages:
1. **Stress Reduction**: Writing about your thoughts and feelings can be a therapeutic way to release stress and anxiety. It allows you to process emotions and gain clarity on what's troubling you.
2. **Improved Mental Clarity**: Journaling helps organize your thoughts, making it easier to see patterns, identify goals, and make decisions. It's like having a conversation with yourself on paper.
3. **Enhanced Creativity**: Regular journaling can boost creativity by encouraging you to think outside the box and explore new ideas. It's a space where you can freely express your imagination.
4. **Emotional Healing**: By reflecting on past experiences and expressing your emotions, journaling can aid in healing from past traumas or difficult life events. It provides a safe outlet for processing grief, anger, or sadness.
5. **Goal Achievement**: Writing down your goals and regularly reviewing them can increase your chances of achieving them. Journaling helps you stay focused and motivated by tracking your progress and keeping you accountable.
6. **Better Sleep**: Journaling before bed can help clear your mind, reducing the likelihood of racing thoughts that might keep you awake. It's a great way to unwind and prepare for a restful night.
7. **Increased Self-Awareness**: Regular journaling can deepen your understanding of yourself, your values, and your aspirations. It encourages introspection and self-reflection, leading to personal growth.
8. **Improved Memory**: Writing about your experiences helps reinforce memories and can improve your ability to recall details. It's a form of active memory retention.
9. **Enhanced Problem-Solving**: Journaling allows you to work through complex issues by breaking them down into smaller, manageable parts. This can lead to more effective problem-solving and decision-making.
10. **Boosted Immune Function**: Studies have shown that expressive writing can boost your immune system by reducing stress and promoting emotional well-being.
Bottomline, keep on journaling! Here's to our improved health, well-being, and personal growth!
Peace my friend.
