The readme covers it pretty well.
It's an interesting concept, I'm just not sure how practical it is given that you still need to store enough master fingerprints to be able to recover the descriptor.

Aren't those master fingerprints just derived from the two private keys that you need for signing anyway? Or are those master fingerprints different than the private key fingerprint shown by some devices?
Correct, fingerprint is of the xpub/xprv.
