Addiction is another growing issue I've seen hit many families in the US. When I think on it, I can't think of a single person I know not touched by it. Not the same as cancer, but it's just another thing on the pile. I guess there's never been a short supply of suffering in the world. Hopefully some day cancer is a thing of the past.

Most people didn't use to live long enough to get gray hair, much less develop all of these chronic issues. Cancer death rates are steadily declining in the EU, at least. The medical system is making steady wins.
