People are shocked to see images of paper notes dumped in the streets of countries experiencing hyperinflation. But even in relatively stable countries like the US, we see the same done with coins all the time. Coins are actively dumped or abandoned, passively forgotten or lost, everywhere, constantly. Left in carts at supermarkets, at self-checkout registers, at rest areas along highways, in the pockets of jeans, on sidewalks, down the sides of sofas. Everyone already knows the money is trash. That’s a good point. You do see coins everywhere. I remember when you’d see pennies or nickels out and about but now you even see quarters around more often.
