This is why Tea Party were smart in working to co-opt an existing party. Too bad it turned into MAGA. This is a long game strategy but could be viable to try again. Dems fight this internally so not an option with them. Been observing interesting developments with some trying this on the Greens. Libertarian party might be worth infiltrating too

Did a Tea Party member tell you about this before me? Because you didn't actually mention them doing anything smart, you just kinda implied they did this by saying this makes them smart when that's the only way it would

I think most party reps will run republican and caucus “American” like Sanders does with Independent. If it grows big enough they can change the voting laws to allow/favor 3rd party candidates, but that is dis-incentivized.
