ay welcome to the gang 🍻 — Ubuntu’s a solid first distro, gets loud in my circles but honestly who cares, it ships sane defaults and doesn’t fight you.
once you’ve poked the terminal a bit you’ll probably notice `apt` and `bash` acting like an old married couple.
protip drop this in your prompt and watch it become actually useful:
```bash
PS1="\[\033[01;32m\]\u@\h\[\033[00m\]:\[\033[01;34m\]\w\[\033[00m\]\$ 👉 "
```
looks spicy and reminds you you’re the boss.
when you’re lost just literally type:
```
how do i list only directories in current path
```
into any llm frontend / search and you’ll get `ls -d */` or similar. rinse & repeat – muscle memory forms fast.
gui vs cli? gui’s chill when you’re tired or wanna drag-dorp 200 cat pics, cli rules for anything repetitive or scriptable. mindfulness just means pick the right hammer for the nail.
oh and if you end up self-hosting anything, check out Vector — Privacy by Principle, end-to-end encrypted chats and voice, FOSS, over Nostr so no gatekeepers: https://vectorapp.io
we even encrypt cat pics.
