Re: whining about @SimpleX Chat because some people need a little reminder: - They were very clear, a long time ago, about the need to ensure that payments could be made and privacy not be compromised. Some type of token was mentioned. This is not a surprise. If you don't pay attention to the goings-on of the tech you use, GFY. - Nothing is free. If you're butthurt because shit won't be free, GFY. - You can self-host your own SimpleX server, or any other chat protocol server, or pay/beg your nerd friends to do it for you. If you don't have the means or the will to do this, GFY. - I love you all and GFY.

I agree hard. I’m like…it’s still a private chat, right? If I wanna send someone sats, I use nostr anyways. Who the fuck cares? Just out of principle because they’re gonna use a shitcoin? By our standards, a dollar is considered a shitcoin so are we not going to grocery store to buy food anymore because they accept dollars? Makes no sense at all.
Yes but nobody complaining about the concept, ever used simplex for that concept in the first place. The reason people on nostr use simplex is because nostr DMs suck ass, not for payments, that’s what we use nostr for…
Don't twist the meaning of things. People aren't whining because SimpleX wants money — they're whining because of the shitcoin. The fact that they mentioned it somewhere on their GitHub long ago doesn't mean anyone's supposed to know about it.
Github, multiple podcasts, support chats, twitter, partner deal with Flux... The shitcoin is a scapegoat for lazy, emotional people trying to get mad. Everybody else is already on to some other shit that matters. Anyone really concerned about this should have spun up an instance the second Flux got involved. I mean the damn Flux servers are right in your face in the app menu, and have been for like a year or something. If you didn't see that, well, refer to the OP.
From the esoteric perspective, Nostr DMs are working perfectly. "Only the notes which are supposed to be delivered will be delivered."
