It's not entirely invalid, however the Big 5 (OCEAN) model is robust and offers certain predictability, e.g. political affiliation. This is a huge topic that warrants definition of terms starting with the definition of "you" which immediately complicates things because when people typically say "you" or "me", they have a lot of assumptions and societal conditioning baked into the meaning they're attempting to convey. This topic also gets right up next to the astrology conversation which is rooted in physics principles like the electromagnetic right hand rule, rhythm entrainment of oscillators, and constructive and destructive interference patterns.

Next you're going to tell me you don't believe in astrology... I think different people have different traits and personality tests and types try to make a messy thing tidy by putting traits in boxes and matching it all up. I think they're fun and people certainly exhibit traits of a certain type or multiple types. I think the problem becomes people building their identity around it instead of saying heh I do that 🤷‍♀️.

When I say you, I mean me. When I say me, I mean us. I might say the types are real, but they are relative and so are only real in a relative sense. They are observations of an object in motion. The object can be in motion, but is not motion itself.

When does an idea become “real”? The types and the beliefs that the moon affects us could be true, but I don’t believe that we are capable of capturing the truth on these matters. Even if, as soon as we do, it changes us. What I am saying is that our knowledge of the types can never be complete and so I don’t believe our categorizations of these things are more than the knowledge we gain about ourselves in our dreams. It’s like we are quantum particles. The observations are real, predictions can be made, but the nature is not understood. We can call water steam or ice, but it can be either and its molecules are the same.

We were mostly just being silly. I think it becomes real to a person when they believe it to be truth. Real doesn't necessarily mean right or even that it's the only possibility, it's an idea.

I think the types and astrology are both real, but they are not inherent. I think our over socialization contributes to the formation of types. How many impulses do we hide/suppress.

Oh I absolutely agree with you, no one is going to be completely honest and their true self 100% of the time, society won't allow it. I do believe there are more or less empathetic (one of the big things for determining a personality type). There are a bunch of people who like neat and tidy clear cut lines, like I am such and such type and these are my people because we all do this, I'm "normal". Some people get sucked in to a tribe mentality more than others, maybe it's a survival thing 🤔🤷‍♀️. Unsure. I love doing all the different kinds of personality quiz things, reading horoscopes, Chinese Zodiac...it's fun to see how it does align with how I see myself and how others perceive me. Group settings are so fun for these things.

Books contain no knowledge, just symbols that we then create knowledge from. Knowledge creation is in the mind. Of course that stuff is fun, because it’s an opportunity to look through another crack and see the truth. Our interests are the most powerful energy source in the world.
