I have a similar problem, just probably less intense than in your case, but it gets triggered by distraction in particular.
SWEs I know are getting laid off, so I can't afford to rest on my laurels anymore though. When deadlines approach, I have to meet them.
That's why I'm taking an extended break from X. It's just too distracting with the oceanic tide of content there. I will still check Nostr here and there.

if you don't want to get laid off focus on controlling the urge to make snide remarks
pretend you are a good natured simple person who believes in everything they taught you in grade school about the importance of hard work and being a team player
pretend you think you're fortunate to have a boss who is smarter than you that you can look up to
of course don't say any of this directly or the manipulation will be obvious - just as act as if this is how you feel
my guess is whether somebody keeps their job is 20% job performance and 80% office politics
