Morality is made up by man? You’ve said it clearly now. So the abolitionists made it up. The civil rights movement made it up. Anyone who ever called anything unjust was just making it up. You don’t actually live that way and you know it. On the commandments. The tenth commandment addresses the specific property and social anxieties of ancient Israelite men in covenant with God. It’s not an exhaustive list of everything morality covers. The entire Torah framework assumes the image of God in man as the foundation. Children aren’t listed as property because they aren’t property. That’s the point. You’re using the Bible’s internal logic to critique the Bible while telling me the Bible’s foundation is irrelevant. You can’t have it both ways. Either the text has a coherent framework worth examining honestly or it doesn’t. Pick one and stay there.

Yes!! Morality is made up!! We enforce it on each other. I know it is uncomfortable, and you need there to be more, but I promise you, thinking I don't recognise how fragile that is for humanty is not lost on me. That somehow if you point out it is all circular or something I am suddenly going to say “shit, you’re right, that is fragile and circular, that must mean it comes from God” then you are mistaken. I accept it despite it’s fragility. We are human dude. to me, nothing more, nothing less. We can treat each other as we would like to be treated, how we would want our kids to be treated, and place obligation on others to follow those obligations, but I do not accept something higher tells me those behaviours.
