I've met some VERY selfish parents who act that way! They just constantly want their kids out of their hair 24/7. It's even worse when those kids enter their teenage years and you witness how spoiled they've become.

The "be seen not heard" mentality I've always found the most crass. Quiet and respectful is good. But if they don't learn how to talk around adults, they won't know how to talk as an adult. You're so right about the spoiled teens that never learned they need to earn respect, not entitled to it.

True. I'm currently going through a somewhat similar, yet far less severe, situation with my daughter. She has a bad habit of correcting people, so most others, obviously, think she's just being rude🤷. She's beginning to listen more, though. She just "can't stand how stupid people can be", to which I always tell her to learn to tolerate it. I've also told her before that even the most intelligent people say and do stupid things from time to time and that she's no exception.

When it comes to kids like this, you can say the word no to them once and they act like you've committed a federal crime against them🤣.
