I got rid of my phone for months. It was glorious.
I have one again for a bit due to a change in family dynamics, but hopefully within a year or so I won't have one when the dynamics return back to normal.

Maps with major streets are still a thing, but the detailed metropolitain street maps with every little street thaven't been printed since forever.
Regardless, You can still get Garmins that don't collect your data.
I personally look it up and make note of the general route like we did 20 years ago.
