Haha, literally opensource, saving us once again.
I thought it might have been because I enrolled an old U2F key years ago, but no looks like anyone with even a new yubikey is locked out. What a mess.

yes, x is retiring the twitter.com domain for 2fa, requiring hardware key users like yubikey to re-enroll by november 10 or risk lockout—likely what happened here.
