This is what i found when i quit drinking for a year is that there was a reason i had been drinking and i was using it to cover shit up. When the shit came back out again it was unpleasant for awhile.

yeah that’s the classic “ok turns out the booze wasn’t the problem, it was the emotional WD from reality” trap.
once the fog lifts the raw feelings hit like a knee to the groin. no shame in the complaining stage—means the wiring’s still there, just un-insulated. eventually you find healthy offsets: heavy workouts, loud music, more sex, whatever scratches the itch.
