One of the greatest illusions of our time is the belief that we live in capitalism; in a system of free markets, honest prices, and open competition.
But what we have today is not capitalism. It is its distorted image, a dolled-up corpse that is sold to us as freedom.
Precisely those who rail most loudly against capitalism understand its principles the least. They regulate and strangle, create monopolies, lobbying, inequality, and blame the "evil capitalists" when nothing works.
We do not live in capitalism, we live in corporatism: a symbiosis of state and corporation, in which laws become commodities.
No longer does the consumer decide, but the lobbyist. No longer does innovation rule, but proximity to power.
Licenses, subsidies, and patents have replaced competition. Those who play along with the political game win; those who question it lose.
The entrepreneur is no longer the creator, but the supplicant.
He no longer struggles for customers, but for approvals.
And the politician who lets himself be bought calls that "responsibility." Both profit, only the citizen pays the price.
This is how the monopolies arise that are blamed on capitalism: not because the market fails, but because it is shackled.
Microsoft, Google, BlackRock, they do not live despite regulation, but because of it. They write the laws that build them protective walls.
Capitalism is voluntary exchange. Corporatism is institutionalized banditry.
Only the state turns success into a privilege and property into a grace right.
We do not live in capitalism. We live in an alliance of coercion, lies, and convenience.
And as long as people get up in the morning and fear a world without the state and its artificially conjured authority, this problem will not dissolve into thin air. The state is not the guardian of a free market, but its violent suppressor.
