Never even heard of these guys. Seems more like theft? I can’t imagine the RCMP having a bitcoiner onboard to craft a tx with an op_return :/
Never heard of them. Could it have been exchange staff that put it in when they sent it to the RCMP's wallet? If it's even true. Will be interesting to see what the RCMP have to say.
That and looting from Ethereum. Plus with the embedded messages about the mounties now owning it is odd. Interested on any follow up comments from the Canadian government. However, and as the article points out, even if it were the Canadian government it's still theft and it's rubbing it in the noses of the people that have lost their money.

I mean if it’s an exit scam, this trick won’t last long so I think it’s very possible the funds have been seized. We should find out soon.

Large governmental seizures are the biggest risk to proof-of-stake chains.
These are not our government obviously they’re racking operations or Rico. We’re gonna have to take down every government one by one when this is all over.
