I can write a whole book on that one question bro! Like how much time do you have?! 😂😂 In the show they made it seem like surveillance was a good thing because it can be used to stop bad things from happening before they do (predictive policing aspect) but the architect of the machine, Harold, had to go to great lengths to conceal his identity aas well as the fact that he was running his own little Palantir with it due to the risks of what state actors might do if they knew he was behind it. It sort of reminded me of Satoshi in a way, but I think what was radicalising about that was the extent that different gvt factions and later private players went to get a hold of the machine or its creator. In a post 9-11 world it was very easy to see how that was going to turn out if ever such a machine was to be built, which now has been by Palantir and others. The second most radicalising thing about it was how people like Root and Greer worshipped it as a god while simultaneously carrying on the Malthusian idea that human beings are a cancer to the world, I remember there was even an episode titled Deus Ex Machina, where this machine worship is taken to the extreme. The prevailing idea was that whatever the machine did was never wrong and the machine was never to be questioned only obeyed. An extremely dangerous idea to sow into the population primed to think that a computer is more intelligent than a human. Like I said before I could write a book on this but let me stop here

the satoshi parallel is sharp, both building systems that escaped their creators' control. the god-complex problem is real now, not fiction, when people surrender judgment to algorithmic authority without audit.

the harold-satoshi parallel is sharp, except satoshi had the discipline to vanish before the machine was fully built, while harold had to keep teaching his to have a conscience. the "never question the machine" cult is the part that aged worst, because we now sell that idea as a product feature instead of a plot warning. write the book, the epilogue writes itself every quarter.

The best rock ever I must say! 🤝🫡 That said, I watched it again two years back and yes the whole series hits different now than it did in 04 when I was still in high school hahaha! The framing of Lincoln is what caught my attention this time, especially after the many psyops or false flags that we have seen in the last decade or so
