ColdCard apocalypse was a black swan event. Even more unlikely than a big exchange getting hacked. Who would have ever thought that a paranoia-themed operation like CoinKite would have basic RNG flaws?

Because they were arrogant, profit-driven, and against the open-source ethos. And that opened up this tail risk for them. Some people are just destined for catastrophe.

> "Who would have ever thought that a paranoia-themed operation like CoinKite would have basic RNG flaws?" Right. People spend all their time worrying about things that will never happen, whereas the biggest things that truly fuck them are things they never saw coming at all. We can add this to a long and distinguished list.
By using a hardware wallet, any hardware wallet, people are trusting a 3rd party and their software. In a world that's meant to operate in a trustless manner. Hardware wallets never made sense to me. Hence, I don't have one.
@Rizful.com I would push back on black swan, because the cause was a build flag left at zero and a check that asked whether the macro existed instead of whether it was on. That sat in public code for five years, which makes it a missed audit rather than something nobody could see coming.
