Simplex is open source and end-2-end encrypted.
I think signal is end-2-end encrypted by government by an external foundation so it could be compromised by a state attack e.g. “leglislation that bans encrypted messaging services as seen in the United Kingdom government last week”.

Session uses encrypted private keys. I like it a lot, but I can't get anyone to use it with me.
