0. Number of people we’ll get from TikTok

Replies (37)

The only way to get people from TikTok is posting on TikTok, like what that lady did a while back.
I searched on TikTok today before the ban to see if anyone was talking about Nostr, and I did not one recent post about Nostr, let alone one that looked well made or got any traction. I think those of us who understand the cultures and communities in other platforms should get used to promoting Nostr if we ever want it to be seen as a viable platform for the mainstream. I see often the culture on Nostr is that we are "better" than the users of other apps, and I don't think that's a recipe for growth. To be honest, looking at the state of Nostr vs other decentralized platforms, I don't think we can afford to skip our on these major opportunities to take in new users. That being said, Nostr clients I've used do not currently excel at video content, so it was always going to be a hard sell anyway.

Exactly. Nobody knows this place exists and if they did, they’d be disappointed quickly and leave.
Yup. I can't even get own best friends to join here because they look and say... for what? We'd be lucky to absorb have even a fraction of the creators TikTok has.

At least today, they will have a lower level of depression.
Correct…At best, about as many people from Tik Tok will come as how many fingers and toes I have. PS. I’m not a mutant and I haven’t lost any appendages ever.
Most people on Nostr want everyone to come here, even people they disagree with. Some people think they’re different from the tiktokers, when they aren’t. I was spamming comments about Nostr, have been for about a month. I think I got one person to join. We definitely need to build a TikTok clone asap.
You mean the ads people complain about, skip over and generally don't like while scrolling... that nostr doesn't have? Billboards don't FEEL like ads to folks today while in traffic or stopped at a light. Digital marketing ads while scrolling reddit or Facebook FEEL like annoying ads. 🤷
My thoughts on this. Billboards are unnecessary obstacle covering a wonderful view of the landscape and they became a white noise to me. You know, when you're passing bye and you know there was a Billboard and you have no freaking clue what was on it. Percentage of attention they get from me is 0.

I see a zap button on your note but can't zap you for some reason. Just letting you know in case that's not deliberate.
You can say that to me sure, were all entitled to our own opinions.... but I'm just going to bring up that your being brainwashed either way even if you think you dont give them any attention due to the tha fact that constantly flashing the same things to you(like a billboard on your way to work everyday) is a form of subtle brainwashing called priming... Sorry, but your influenced by your surroundings subconsciously weather you like it or not. Your human too.
It has a contradictory effect on me seriously. The more some entity advertise itself the less I give a f**k about them and intentionally avoid their service or product. Just my way of not following the herd of sheeps. But yes what you wrote is definitely effective for the majority of population.
To be expected, your here on nostr already. Lol. It's going to be hard to use any kind of psychology on anyone with a 2023 npub. We know how to think for ourselves. New users, are not us though. And we know from history that psychology wins wars and is the basis of basically any form of advertising. Let's use it to give others the chance to reclaim their digital freedom back and win this war! The 5yr nostr plan; Onboard people to nostr where bitcoin education is abundant. People start using bitcoin as money. USA is forced to accept bitcoin as money. We the people win and bitcoin is used as p2p money as intended by Satoshi. It's up to us to build the world we want to see. Let's make it happen! 🫂💜
We'll get everybody eventually. Centralized disease never fails to deliver.
