GM!
Never! Iβll tell you why. I am an iOS user, I like it, I enjoy it, and it is my daily driver. I dislike Google or any of their products, I just donβt trust their insensitive are aligned with their users. If I were to try and make an Android app, it will be like asking French chef to make a Japanese sushi. The chef will likely be able to make it, but it will not be good, will not be loved, and chef will not be able to put his soul into it. I hope that makes sense to you π«‘
Makes perfect sense π
I was lightly trolling you a bit π€
Hence the "ducks" π¦
Have a nice day π
I know you were, but I decided to use this as an opportunity to explain my reasoning π€£
I think that iOS vs Android war should come back actually. It would give some variety instead of just Knots vs Core discussions.
Maybe we need more BSD guys to get on the Linux nerds nerves π€
We need more diversity of autist battles I think.
I think we need much better designers and user interface specialists. Most of the FOSS UI/UX is frankly garbage and is not friendly to a common population. It was always a problem, hence Linux is on servers and not on desktops. Android slightly improved on that by bringing Linux to mobile, but I still consider it a bad execution, given the variance between vendors of hardware.
SteamOS is another vector, bringing Linux to a non technical crowd. I think the gaming audience becoming more familiar with Linux could help, it might push more well designed software to the Linux side. Valve did a good job with getting Linux drivers to work a lot better, gaben has sway in the industry, so maybe.
Android coming to desktop/laptop form factors, replacing ChromeOS will be interesting too. Desktop mode on my phone is actually useful.
I'm the opposite of you π I used to do support that included a lot of Mac & iOS users (I was even a Mac Maxi back in the day, until 10.7/8 π±) I find their later GUI decisions frustrating and Linux & Android easier. But everyone is different, and I'm certainly not a common user.
π€£π€£π€£ I deal with a lot of Linux and dealt with Windows and Solaris/BSD in my early days, but now I like the invisibility of Apple, that allows me to do my thing without being into my face. The OS is truly good when user doesnβt know its name or origins
Invisibility is in the eye of the beholder. Linux with Gnome is invisible to me. I try to use Windows or Apple and I can't figure out what to do.
I once had an MCSE cert. long ago. That's what made me switch to Mac π€£
Never used it, got hired at a shop with Linux servers and learned on the job π I loved my Macs back then, a lot of knowledge was compatible between OSX & Linux on the command line. I got so comfortable with Linux I bought a ThinkPad and never looked back.

Common folks, not me or perhaps you
Idk. I set my older family members up with Gnome because of its minimal nature. Fewer visible options for them to be confused by.
Something tells me this app is going to grow into being more than just a side project
Just a hunch
π€£π€£π€£ is it a side hunch?
