If the filters don't do anything then why remove them?
If on the other hand it is like gmail filters where some spam gets through but removing them would open the flood gates (which I think is the case) then we really don't want them removed.
What is the advantage of no filters?

We do not have to relay & facilitate transactions that we oppose.
The fact that some spam gets through my email filters is not a reason to remove all filters.
There is no point in arguing with them.
These are people are hypocrites. Removing OP_return limit will not stop slipstream.
People can and will still go directly to miners to put whatever they want in their blocks.
It will just allow Tom, Dick and Harry to spam more, especially now they want to reduce the min limit to 0.1 sat/vB.
