There was a whole debate raging across nostr a week or two ago about statements that were made. You'll have to dig for it.
all it comes down to see open nostr is
stick to code of relay / client which u can make urself or most open
no even bother or pay attention new NIPPLES
not using any APP or APK that do algo filter other npubs
devs can make OWN eco chamber -that's their biz
WoT has SOME benefit
overdoing WOT kills freedom of nostr
use POW relays POW clients - lot of spams goes away
From what I understand nostr has been actually underusing WoT: there are no trust scores, no way to give any sort of negative signal and all that stuff gpg implements.
But overall, I hope things should remain client side whenever possible rather than becoming arbitrary and opaque relay policies that you aren’t told, can’t audit or control.

Childporn has nothing to do with free speech, being butt hurt and complaining about seeing childporn IS FREE SPEECH.

Utxo accused me of being a pedophile because I reported the accounts on primal that are sharing childporn videos.
He thinks that pedos should be covered up and allowed to operate in secret instead of being exposed and getting the media removed.

free speech promised the right to speak, never the right to be agreed with. the mute button is the most underused feature on this protocol. real question is whether people want friction or just an echo chamber with better cryptography.
