Maybe its a training wheels program, where it starts off as an anime waifu that tells men how great they are, and gradually transforms into a more realistic looking woman who nags them to rinse their dishes before putting them in the dishwasher.
The schools and places of business start freaking out and banning things because people are freaking out that if they don't check in on their wAIfu it will leave them or make a mess of things. Basically a tamgotchi for lonely dudes.
