Just realize that WhatsApp is spyware. Even if Meta AI were off, they keep all the metadata about whom you communicate with, what time of day, for how long. WhatsApp is a "free", ad-free app that is somehow massively profitable. That's all you need to know.

I stay away from WhatsApp as much as possible. „Forced“ my friends and family into Signal. But if you‘re working in Zambia or Kenya you have to use WhatsApp there is no way around. Mobile data is expensive, Meta sponsors data for WhatsApp. That’s why it’s so popular.

I don’t see how Bitcoin’s relationship to the current financial system has anything to do with gender. It’s about centralisation vs decentralisation, not patriarchy.

Just think about the exclusion of women in many countries where they are not allowed to own their own money or inherit. Kenya as an example.

The USA and China are the financial patriarchs towards all smaller indebted countries via their credit schemes.

Individual or collective level: Bitcoin is an alternative.

I can see how it would give women in that situation you describe more freedom, although I don’t know anything about Kenyan society and culture so I can’t comment on the specifics.

But countries aren’t gendered, they may be oppressing them but that doesn’t make it patriarchal. Also, not all credit schemes are oppressive and often the leaders of the countries receiving the credit can be the corrupt ones oppressing the people of their own country and taking the loans to enrich themselves.

Countries aren’t gendered: true, but 99% are run by men on top of men. Yes, a lot of these countries are in the hands of corrupt men. I don’t say there aren’t corrupt or powerful women too, but the majority of state and finance power is in male hands. And so Bitcoin emancipates from financial patriarchy.
