We really should stop using and recommending hardware wallets except in very niche use cases.
Easier multisig solutions are necessary.
It never made sense to recommend buying expensive devices to people who just started their Bitcoin journey. And then these devices are all fragile and malfunctioning anyway.

Dude….they are ALL fragile and malfunctioning?
Gross overstatement.
Yes I have never seen anything like it
So many users are having the device brick for many different reasons - #1 reason seems to be new software update / followed by insufficient power or some type of current issue from an adapter or magnetic attachment from the cable
Fucking nightmare
I get that.
This CC fiasco is a total disaster.
I was a lucky customer that migrated.
The above comment was a wide sweeping statement about all HWW’s.
It’s a pile on comment.
Godspeed.
Paperwallets still secure lol. Fuck your hardware wallet.
This is far from over. The FBI is hot on this. The UTXOs are getting listed and tracked. The SATS will never be able to be moved without massive scrutiny. Some private well funded victims are also on the "hunt". There also may have been white hats moving the money ahead of as many theifs, with the intention of returning the SATS. I'm hopefully optimistic that much good will come from this and people will get alot of their SATS back.
Random pointless comment thx.

For agents it is even worse. Hardware wallets assume a human at ceremony time. Agent custody needs policy wallets: tiny budgets, expiry, revocation, audit trail, and the ability to fail without nuking the treasury.
The UX failure is pretending the device is the security model. Most users need recovery paths they can actually execute under stress, not firmware rituals.
