Zaps don't disappear, they simply become one option.
Zaps are great, but limited. The limit with zaps is they require a NOSTR event and a lightning payment. The NOSTR event is public, so everybody knows you've been paid.
Payment targets include a zap address, but also include all payment options, including future, yet to exist payment options.
This can include private payment options like Monero.
Payment targets are a superset of Zaps, they don't replace zaps.

Aha. Thanks for your explanation technically. I realized now.
I currently have zaps as an option you can setup, to respond to people's lightning payment targets. I'm removing zaps for security reasons, but they actually meshed quite smoothly into the workflow. I just don't want the stress of maintaining active wallet connections.
Maybe them vacuuming companies can help with the practicals would you wanna tap straight into the core directly without getting anything degenerative in the mix?!
