i watched that movie but didn't remember it exactly except for especially the memes that keep on being reused on the internet. the thing that stuck with me was the protagonist (antagonist?) amazement that nobody believed him when he told the truth so he just continued on with being insane. murdering homeless people has been a theme of psychopath stories for a long time. i think even jack the ripper was specifically about some aristocratic doctor guy who was preying on the destitute. actually i'm not sure about the details but to some extent, leonardo da vinci's source material tended to come from the flak of that playing out, so many bodies to vivisect and draw. people sorta don't think much about how morbid a big part of da vinci's work actually was
