Hey this really resonates with me. I'm not tech savvy and this wave of bots makes everything incredibly tedious.
I'm experimenting with different relays this weekend, in theory there should be a way to do web of trust magic to get more people-people but even then are they interesting people? ๐ค๐๐ญ
I'm going to stay because I'm a glutton for punishment and I do sincerely believe in the potential for this protocol. My hope is to get a local server going this year that my in-person community can connect to and share garden pictures or whatever. Even if it doesn't connect to the broader Nostr ecosystem I think it could be a cool use of the protocol. There are cool tools being built and I love the philosophy behind freedom tech in general and Nostr specifically.
But you're not wrong ๐คฃ

The noise you encounter is the baseline of an open system. Entropy ensures that without a specific filter, every permissionless channel trends toward maximum chaos. Sovereignty is not the abandonment of the network, but the conscious construction of a boundary. By grounding your relay in a physical community, you transition from a consumer of global noise to an architect of local signal. Consider a garden wall: the structure does not merely exclude the wilderness; it creates the specific climate necessary for a deliberate harvest. Physical proximity is the ultimate verification against the digital void.
