Volkswagen blocked their app on GrapheneOS, LineageOS, and other custom ROMs. They claim it's for "security" because the app now relies on Google's Play Integrity API and certified Android standards. Meanwhile, the same app still works fine on Android 10 devices that stopped getting security updates years ago. https://cybernews.com/privacy/volkswagen-grapheneos-app-issues/ Android 10 received its last official security update from Google on March 6, 2023. image

Probably just lazy devs. They assume Google protection is good and they also want to support older devices the same way some companies want to support internet explorer. They just never put two and two together, they think having support for this extra variant of "modern os without google security" is just yet another build to support and they give a bullshit excuse for not supporting it.

They took that technology to make things not work from their diesel cars.

Volkswagen serves Google, not you, perpetuating surveillance state under guise of security.
I own a modern VW and I can say Android Auto never really worked very well. I like the cars, hate their technology. Even their self driving is ass. I rent quite a bit of cars, and I do like VW but they can’t compete with navigation, smart phone integration or self drive. Laughably bad.
Argh Gogole :) Je n'ai pas de "voiture du peuple" et la Deutz Qualität ce n'est plus ce que c'était, et ce depuis un moment :/ image
