This is an exceptional podcast! This is the third time I’ve heard @jack mallers explain how he is fully living on a Bitcoin standard. I am thinking of executing on that starting January 2025. The new features he has in STRIKE, and at the beginning of a bull run, makes it about as low risk as you could be to try out this strategy. That also allows you to build up a buffer… Provided you have the discipline to always spend less than you make… To even make the strategy work in a bear market. Thanks for hosting, @preston
I paid for my daughters' college, so they would have no student loans. They then jumped into the workforce and started purchasing homes and growing retirement "the old fashioned way" - like their dad taught them - through stock market investing. I wish both of them would follow the Bitcoin path...at least one son-in-law is dabbling, but he is just buying with RobinHood. No self-custody. And I have to tread carefully with the oldest...who gave me 3 grandsons...to keep from gifting a few sats on birthdays/Christmas to the boys. So I'll work on decent estate/legacy planning. #meme image
Thought this was a very comprehensive, all-in-one-place article on thyroid health. Low-carb diets/intermittent fasting can wreck people's metabolism - especially women. They can be doing everything right in regard to diet/exercise/lifestyle changes (like good sleep) and still have insidious weight gain due to a lowered metabolism. That impacts thyroid function... #health #wellness https://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2024/12/03/thyroid-function-metabolic-wellness.aspx
A new era begins for me… - 2022 first personal BTC purchase and immediately put in cold storage (cold card) - 2023 put both of my (tiny) LLCs on a bitcoin treasury - 2024 finally get control of my BTC IRA keys - 2025 hoping to have a bitcoin full node and Alby hub setup in January…not sure I can get it all done by end of 2024 because of travel plans Excited but a tad trepidation. I haven’t setup a server since setting up a business Windows Server probably 23 years ago?? I’ve setup plenty of SQL Server and Oracle instances, and lots of BI deployments, but I’ve always preferred the development work versus operations or implementations. Seriously, I’ve been a tennis pro/health coach/personal trainer for the last almost 7 years. Plan on relying on the @Start9 forums/groups as well as @BTC Sessions videos. And maybe a little cursing… image
Just ordered some comprehensive labs from Marek Health...2nd year we've used them. Then went the extra step and ordered @Ken Berry, MD "Common Sense Labs: Blood Labs Demystified". I like what is listed in the Table of Contents and I trust Berry's knowledge. Hoping to see reference ranges for all/most of the labs...then expect to immediately disregard them in favor of the OPTIMUM ranges. I was more relaxed on my carbs in 2024 (mostly through berries and honey...but also occasional potatoes/rice/brussels sprouts). I am interested in seeing how that impacted both my ApoB and fasting glucose. I do tend to disregard my higher fasting glucose numbers because my fasting insulin tends to be excellent. Same goes with not being quite as concerned with higher LDL (and ApoB) when my ratios are excellent. Of course I am getting these labs 1 day before the family has their big Christmas cookie baking day! I tend to pollute myself a bit more between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I still eat well (and sleep/exercise)...but those freakin' cookies come calling to me every night.
Bullish on any trade wars over the next 4-12 years…12 years is my maxi-bull hope of keeping the Democrats (and companion Deep State) out of the White House and at least in the minority in Congress. This does not mean I want the pendulum to swing so hard to the right that we have idiocy/lunacy ramping up on that side!
Timeline on Hunter Biden’s influence-peddling. Can somebody claim the 25th amendment - Joe Biden incompetent - and reverse this? Otherwise, I love the idea that Hunter now MUST testify to Congress since he can no longer claim the 5th amendment for self-incrimination.
Will be interesting to see if we truly keep following that M2 lag down to the $70k range. I'm still not selling, but I'll probably have to assure a few others not to sell to stronger hands. Me, I still want someone to write a more detailed instruction book - and for solution providers like bigger banks, DebiFi, etc to come up with reasonable loan rates and an understanding of Bitcoin as collateral - so that I can learn to use debt more efficiently versus ever sell my Bitcoin unless I'm choosing to support a circular economy. FYI, Mark Moss did write an interesting eBook that also incluced a spreadsheet to do what-if analysis on borrowing against Bitcoin.
Two #asknostr questions: - I want to setup my wife for a wallet (likely Muun, Speed or Breez for ease of use). In the case of Strike, I guess I'd just provide my login credentials. However, in the case of the other wallets, as long as I import/recover a wallet using the 12/24 words, we should both be able to initiate transactions and maintain updated balances across both wallets, right? I know this is a simple question...I assume the answer is "yes"...but want to verify. - Has anyone created a spreadsheet to do "by lot" drawdowns on BTC? I keep a spreadsheet of BTC purchases with date/quantity/cost basis/gain-loss/etc. However, as I start trying to contribute more to the circular economy...or simply start living more on a #bitcoin standard with as little as possible in fiat...I'm going to need to plan on efficient tax handling. Rather than doing LIFO/FIFO, I'd like to do "by lot" when calculating the cost basis. I want to hand something bulletproof to my accountant since he will not inherently understand bitcoin. Of course, this would become a non-issue if Trump would get bitcoin declared legal tender with no capital gains going back and forth between bitcoin and fiat. #taxes #wallet #accounting
I was mostly in the 70s for when I was running around the neighborhood until after dark...drinking from the hose, building bike ramps, having china berry fights (with slingshots), building mud slides on river banks and swinging on rope swings and doing gainers into the river. And my saying - to my contact sport daughters - were "are you bleeding...are you still breathing...you are OK". And yes - I am conservative. image
