My friend @npub1veg8...e3p6 directed me to this 2017 ACM paper that reconstructs the academic foundations Sathoshi Nakamoto used to develop the Bitcoin protocol. Even for non-experts, the article is incredibly accessible and fascinating, while being a worthwhile read for experts and long-time bitcoiners as well. The paper also jogged my memory. It mentioned Guardtime, and I recalled writing to CEO Mike Gault in 2008 after seeing a Merkle root inside an ad on the front page of the Financial Times. I started a Pinstr board featuring Nostr profiles of bitcoiners with progressive, left leaning, and reformist political views. I’m not trying to make Bitcoin a partisan topic, it simply isn’t. On the other hand, there is still a strong perception that all bitcoiners are libertarian or rightwing bent. Therefore, it’s easy for progressives to feel lonely and isolated in the Bitcoin world, even more here on Nostr. This board aims to foster a sense of belonging and connection among like-minded individuals. If you identify as a progressive bitcoiner, please share your profile, and I'll be happy to add it to the board. Italian taxpayers are supposed to declare their Bitcoin holdings in a specific section of their yearly tax report. The section is: "Foreign investments and financial or patrimonial assets." How romantic! The Italian government seems to believe that Bitcoins are ethereal objects residing in some exotic, remote nation. A financial cyberspace far beyond Italian borders. #italy #tax
