I’m very grateful Tesla took so long in delivering the cybertruck. When I signed up for one in 2019, I probably would have sold bitcoin to buy it if they delivered it promptly…but I learned a lot between 2019 and 2024 when I got mine, so I shorted the dollar to get the truck and kept my bitcoin. The price the day I had to pay for the CT was ₿2.25, but if I were to pay for the rest of the CT today my total, including finance costs to date would be ₿1.344, a savings of nearly ₿0.91! If only I had done this in 2017 with my wife’s minivan. I’d have saved nearly ₿7…ouch! Fiat debt can be good if it means sparing your bitties from the market.

Bitcoin is in some sense like a country. If you buy a little bit of every stock in the stock market and never sell, you’ll be bankrupt eventually as no business lasts forever. But you know who always makes money? Governments. While all companies fail, there will always be companies making money for government to take money from. Bitcoin is sort of like buying a little bit of all the output of humanity…

You can calculate what fraction or percent you own of all bitcoin…exactly and forever. Try doing that with dollars. Or yen. Or Euro. You’ll never be right and your percentage will constantly change, generally decreasing and roughly 7% per year when averaged over the long term. Stake your claim. Be the hero of tomorrow for your family.

Someone needs to invent the 45-47 handgun cartridge so Trump can defend himself against Comey’s 86-47 coded message to his conspirators.

I enjoy my method of fiat mining. I’m probably at the point in life where my mining efforts have more likely than not provided enough for my lifetime, on account of converting my mining efforts to bitcoin and my pre-fiat-mining bitcoin mining. I still love my job, and find much of my reason for being & identity coming from it, but I don’t know what comes next. I’ve been in bitcoin longer than almost everyone and yet I still can’t believe I am where I am. It doesn’t seem real. Or it doesn’t seem like it can be real for me. What I initially genuinely and desperately wanted for bitcoin was for it to scale so that some kid could store thousands, maybe tens or thousands, of dollars…at least enough to get to college…if some kid could take a severe enough beating, nobody could take what was rightfully his, unlike paper bills which can be discovered and taken regardless of how silent and defiant one may be during a bloody beating. Bitcoin achieved this goal long long ago. But I haven’t updated my thinking about life and the rest thereof. Humans are awful at the future, and I am Chief among them. Bitcoin brings opportunities we dared never dream of…and I stupidly never dared. But I don’t waste to this opportunity and in the next year or 4 I’ll I might feel that I did… @Jeff Booth @HODL @Peter Todd @Aaron van Wirdum @Samson Mow @Caitlin Long @jb55 @Edward Snowden @Sjors Provoost (possibly compromised) @Tatiana Moroz @Gigi @UNCLE ROCKSTAR @Robin Seyr @ODELL @Brad Mills @Optimist Fields @NICO⚡️ @FRANCIS - BULLBITCOIN.COM @BTC Sessions @Luke Dashjr @Lyn Alden @Lawrence Lepard @DETERMINISTIC OPTIMISM 🌞 @Daniel Prince @Pierre Rochard @Vitor Pamplona @Bitcoin Infinity Media @nat brunell @THE Bitcoin Podcast @Stephan Livera @stick @slush @Mags @Matthew Kratter @Matt Corallo

I think I kind of understand the block relay thing now. Core’s position is actually reasonable. Relay filters are objectively bad for UTXO set size as this forces shitcoin devs to take a more difficult but cheaper (on chain) approach to data storage with outputs that can’t be proven to be unspendable. Perhaps an entirely new consensus rule is needed. And tiered utxo set storage, perhaps?

Saw some (hand) gun shot wounds recently. Projectile was a very deep hollow point that didn’t expand at all. Minimal deformation even. Reminded me of a liberty civil defense light for caliber 50 g projectile. But it didn’t shatter or expand. Maybe a .380 load from a super short barrel?
