TAKEAWAY: People inevitably reveal their true colours to you in unexpected ways. Not every person you consider a friend is someone you can count on when it matters. STORY TIME: I'm not one to warn anyone about my hunches; I simply let things be and observe whether there's something to it or not. I met these people my partner has known since childhood. I was sceptical about their so-called friendship; my alarm bells were ringing. I let it be and let time tell. Two years later, we found out that these people were only there for appearances, not when you need them. I was organising a get-together, and we were asking people for venue prices and information about meat. Not because we couldn't find it ourselves, but because these people had done the type of event I wanted for my partner. Long story short, one of them was unwilling to share how much he had paid for the venue. The second person was less helpful about the meat we wanted to buy directly from the source. The third person was charging us an extortionate amount for the venue. The fourth person told us they didn't charge for get-togethers at the same venue, as long as it was within the same circle (of friends!). 🤣 The same circle my partner thought he was part of! LOL 😂 So my partner had a wake-up call from all this debacle. LESSONS: On the one hand, I feel vindicated that my hunch was right. On the other hand, I feel for my partner. Nevertheless, it's a massive lesson for him: to learn to filter people and see through them. Sometimes, people have different definitions of friendship. It's critical that you're on the same page! 😬 Lastly, friendship isn't about the number of years you've known each other; it's about who shows up when you need them. 🫂 Have you had such encounters? #asknostr #plebchain #grownostr #nostr

This is great convo @Matt. It is one I have seen repeatedly on my feeds. It degrades user experience. We are already struggling to invite and retain users then add bots to the mix? 😳 We used to ENCOURAGE blocking bots. Now, it has been flipped! The swarm of bots are everywhere! 🥺 I wonder, is this tactic of swarming #nostr with bots is to "show users" or "nodge users" to use WoT?
