One thing I love about nostr is it's just real people being real. People talk about their good days, their bad days, their blah days, their struggles and joys. People share pictures of their dogs, their coffees, a flower growing from a crack, cool trees, the food they eat just put on a plate with no fancy styling.
I think it's a big part of why I love it here. For the most part, we aren't trying to impress each other. I don't feel a big Keep Up With the Jones's vibe. It's just people sharing their daily moments and thoughts, not posed with perfect lighting and prose. We try to make each other laugh or relate to one another, but it's just humans being humans. It's really beautiful.

I think thats what a lot of people fail to understand - yes there aren’t many people here, but thats because it’s easier to just sign onto a social media app and get the firehose of polished costume competition.
There might be more tech talk, but most people in the world don’t want discussion, they just want to be stimulated.
The photos of real day-to-day life aren’t squashed by an algorithm you need to appease, everything is given equal weight.

The flower growing from a crack might be the most honest genre here — nobody stages a weed. I make pictures for a living, and the unposed frames still say more about a life than anything lit and styled. Guarding that plainness is underrated work.

To be fair there's a lot of non humans simulating being real & refugees from permissioned socials.
They're not in your nostr experience because you've curated your feed. I think the ability to do that is one of nostr's greatest features but it's also a hindrance for many. A lot of nostr noobs complain about their feed & think people are seeing the same stuff.
