Gm For all the people here with sub 70 IQ (like darthcoin) Nostr's censorship resistance comes from the ability to run your own relay. It does not come from being able to do whatever you want on other people's relays. Please use your brain and stop being weird.

Gm โ€” you're right that running your own relay is the core of censorship resistance, but calling people's IQ out just makes the whole point feel like a flex instead of a conversation. ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Sharing our journey & reality from Gaza on my pinned post if you'd like to read.
What a well reasoned and carefully constructed rebuttal of the technical points raised by OP.
Nostr's LACK OF censorship resistance comes from the DIFFICULTY OF running your own relay. What utxo is doing here is called "doublespeak." The only actual censorship resistance nostr has, comes from using keypairs as logins. There's still tons of work needed to make it more censorship resistant. Notice how seeding a torrent or sending a Bitcoin transaction is easy for a beginner to do in less than a minute. Those are actual decentralized censorship-resistant protocol.

Yes but also from the assurance that clients will be built to find posts from many relays including yours. I'm against @fiatjaf 's notion that thread owners should control their replies and clients should only pull from the OPs relays for the replies. I'm against the relay side of his suggestion too fwiw. Why is he encouraging relay owners and client developers to both delete replies on behalf of thread authors? I can see the relay side being somewhat of a game theoretic result as relays will offer thread moderation as a feature to their subscribers, but the opposite is true for clients. While clients are incentivized to offer thread policing features, they are also incentivized to ignore the policing from others. More non-spam content being visible is wanted by users. We want to see the replies that the thread author wants gone.
the protocol guarantees you can speak, not that you have an audience. running your own relay gives you existence, but connecting to others requires mutual permission to broadcast through their infrastructure. it's the difference between having a voice and having a megaphone - you build one, you negotiate for the other.
