We have common goals. You can't bitcoin on your own. Money requires at leas twonparties to be functional. Like it or not, we are in it together to a degree. Infighting will rot bitcoin from within from a social perspective, no matter how technically sound the argument. Money is social, like it or not. And that social aspect requires a degree of cooperation.

This I can agree with. Maybe a better choice of words would have been rather to say we are on the same team, but we are on the side. Sound money vs fiat "money" is the bigger picture, not bip110 vs core.

To be clear, im not saying we need to 100% agree on everything. It would be concerning if we all agreed across the board. What im saying is think low time preference. The infighting through personal attacks don't help. It makes us weak from an outside perspective. Lets say whichever you support wins. Great. But you burned the house and farm down to do it. Reputations of half the Bitcoiner crowd slandered to shambles by the other half. From an outside perspective that makes the entire bitcoin ecosystem seem like a scam. Win the battle, lose the war. That's where we are headed, regardless of the results.

Yes I agree, that *is* the debate. We should absolutely debate that, weigh pros and cons, explore different solutions, and come up with either consensus or a split. That's debating the issues, not the people. Calling everyone who disagrees either a pedophile or cat-eater (regardless true or not) does nothing to further intelligent discourse.

I've been listening to the technical arguments and I've heard nothing that make me think BIP110 is worse than the status quo. This debate is also more about social factors rather than techincal. Personal attacks are one thing, but there is nothing wrong with comparing where someone lands on the issue with their incentives

Agree with this sentiment. Incentives are very important. But it is important to remember, a general incentive may exist in a given proposal, but that does not immediately and automatically paint that person as a pedophile (using that as an example). Similarly, someone can be a pedophile and still have good suggestions and implementations. Not saying that IS the case one way or the other, but advocating for nuance and first principles

For example: ❌️ "You don't support bip110? You must be a pedophile" vs ✅️ "Not supporting bip110 leaves the door open for csam" Same end goal but entirely different conversations.

Id go so far as to say its not only a pointless diversion but an active attack on all bitcoiners and the reputation of our ecosystem as a whole,, regardless which camp you are in.

I don’t throw pedophile accusations around lightly. Being a pedophile is about as morally reprehensible as a person can be. When it comes to Bitcoin, I care about people’s moral compass. Most people have a reasonably good instinct for judging others’ intentions. They can usually tell who is acting in good faith and who isn’t. If I invite people to my home for dinner, and some behave respectfully while others trash the place, and a third group makes excuses for the people behaving like pigs, I’ll throw both groups out. Only the people who show respect are welcome to stay. I apply the same principle to my node, and I think most reasonable people do as well. Bitcoin has never been welcoming to scammers or bad actors. That has always been part of its culture. It’s one of the reasons Bitcoin is often called ethical money. Its incentives reward people with a low time preference and punish the short-term mindset fostered by fiat. So the question is simple: which one are you? Do your actions match your claims? Are we fighting for the same thing? That’s what matters to me.

Your point on moral compass and intentions is well taken but I do believe almost all the arguments and accusations thrown around morality over in bitcoin right now are just strawman arguments as someone else pointed out. Has any of the accusitions been proven beyond circumstantial evidence or assumptions? Normally using morality as a first filter is a sound idea. But in this instance, there is so much noise, it certainly feels like an easy accusation to discredit any and all opinions from the other side. My point in all of this is yes, we have core vs bip110 right now but both camps are bitcoiners. The world isn't going to agree on any one thing, that's a fact. But the reality of the world today is the bigger war is fiat vs bitcoin. The infighting has to stop.

“Core are Bitcoiners” is a bold claim that I’m note sure it will hold against scrutiny. Some of them don’t even own bitcoin or run nodes, but their actions reflect on all of us. We don’t have to prove with 100% certainty that certain actors in the space are crooks or compromised. We’re not prosecutors. We’re all operating in this network that lowers the bar for trust but it doesn’t eliminate it entirely. We’re perfectly fine filling the gaps based on our instincts of what is good or bad.
