Peugeot is shit. I had 2 and they just get clogged. They say don't use them over steaming food but then you can't use them for cooking so what's the point? So I used them to cook, and whaddya know they got clogged.
Anyway I'd say the OXO grinders I have which are tall and see through, but they're not sold anymore. My only advice is that cheap is in no way bad, and hand powered is likely better than motorized. It's also nice if you can see how much salt/pepper is left. Also nice is being able to adjust the fineness/courseness if the grind.

There is only one. I give them as Christmas gifts every year, along with a big ass bag of black peppercorns. I’ve been using these grinders for 20 years. The company only sells on Amazon now.

The other route is to not cook with salt or pepper. And then you don't need a mill.

To be fair, I've had the wooden and iron mills for many years now and use them almost daily. They have never clogged.

I usually find good stuff at those kind of stores and mostly very cheap stuff too. Recently bought a massive woodden desk for the battle station and I paid €50 for it. Saw a similar at the furniture store for like €400.

Not going to be quick. I will have to invest in some Forstner bits and drill extender. Those are some long/deep holes that need to be drilled. Question, what length pepper mills we thinking? I say the longer the better. 14" or 17"

I’d think around 8-10” finished size would seem pretty good. 17” is like what they bring to the table in a restaurant, gets a bit unwieldy maybe.

My issue with it is that I normally live in an RV trailer I couldn't fit anything that big in my spice spot. Lol! 10" is pushing it
