this is how most new startups do logins these days. security of the entire internet is dependent on the security of gmail at this point
Drives me crazy, especially if you're using multiple browsers and multiple devices with various levels of privacy/security features enabled across them
We should figure out a secure way of doing Nostr dms so we can use that
What if my email is really my email?
I remember they used to send through snail mail .. no really ..
Even on an ideal platform for something like that, it still always ends up as a hack
Alby?
but is it really so bad when the owner of the email address can reset passwords at will anyways?
Yes, because it forces me to open another tab and wait a minute until the email arrives and I can login.
Not to mention that it makes me see all the emails I hadn't seen I had received since the last time I had opened Gmail 5 days ago.
Nostr.build has had that, for a while.
it’s the digital “key under the doormat”
Yes, it would be cool to see in more apps.
that's the biggest issue by far and why email as 2FA should only be done under certain circumstances
Its better than a password
And 2fa to your cell number
yes, we need "sign in with Bitcoin" or "sign in with Nostr" 😎
Sorry I'm not sure what you mean by this. Isn't that an unrelated problem?
hm, desculpa but you failed to address the point. lose your key -> lose your account. Whereas with typical e-mail based accounts you forget your pw -> reset your pw
