That’s exactly what centralize platforms like 𝕏 do for you. They define your reach. On nostr, you define your reach.
Why be on a social network at all, nostr or otherwise? An audience of one (yourself) can be had in a journal.
If it’s not about you, and it’s about others, then you do have an audience in mind, even if it’s an undefined one. Don’t get hung up on what you assume are mine or anyone else’s intentions with using the word “audience” or “reach.” Use a different word altogether if you want. The key is that you’re posting online for someone(s) outside yourself. The goal is to be authentic, to be honest, to not be fake, because then you are truly expressing yourself for others to identify with, whatever your reasons for wanting to do it. Nostr lets you do that without some centralized entity determine who can and who can’t see (your potential audience) what you post.
Sometimes I overreach. Need better tools to define my reach with a scalpel rather than an axe.
