I have officially made my primary mobile BTC (on chain) setup the Nunchuk + 2 Tapsigners that I've been playing around with for the past few weeks. I fucking love it, and even though I've always loved the Coldcard/Keystone/Jade combo with mobile wallets, none of them have matched the ease of using the Tapsigner, which doesn't even account for the fact that all those others I have to carry around a separate device, while I can keep my Tapsigner right in the wallet I already carry around. Can't believe I haven't been doing this for longer. #[0]

The seed is derived on the card from a passphrase. So the data that comes with the card is more about what is needed to generate a seed, and you provide the entropy. It just means you have 2 different pieces of info to backup instead of one to regenerate it again later in the case of losing a card.
I really need to try this setup. I've used Nunchuk for multi-sig before with different devices. Is it the same type of setup, but with NFC cards?
I have 2 tapsigners on the way, which will leave one trusted device. I'm a paranoid who won't put any bitcoin behind a device I haven't been through the recovery process for. That means I'll have to lose trust of one private key then use the other.
I used a combo so that even if i lose one of the cards, the other plus the device key is all I need to recover it. So neither card is a single point of failure, and neither is my phone.
No actually. I do have one with that setup, but i have an external backup of the mobile wallet key either way. This is actually a 1/2 with just the tapsigners right now. So i only need to not lose both tapsigners at the same time, & i did this specifically to have one in the safe at home, and one for traveling. But i do have my mobile key as my account key, so without that and my password, even stealing my phone and tapsigner makes it highly unlikely they can get my coins.
Actually the one im currently on is just a 1/2, but using my mobile key as my account key for access. So the mobile key is a barrier if anyone gets my phone, but its not attached to the bitcoin. Im still experimenting with trade offs, but just really loving the Tapsigner as the prinary signing device with day to day use. Probably a 2/3 is the best all around for security and ease of use.
One more question, what do you mean by β€œβ€¦But i do have my mobile key as my account key”? Do you mean just adding a PIN code to the app launch?
