Single Sig Multi Sig Checksum Dice Entropy Mnemonic bits and bips GM GA GE GN. Full circle has led me back to device generated seed words with a passphrase. Don’t @ me. #bitcoin

Doesn't hurt to add dice rolls, but no biggie. Make sure the passphrase is strong. Using 12 bip39 words is solid, plus as a bonus seed plates are laid out for stamping those words already, so metal backup is easier.

I’m back at the ‘store my seed phase in excel’ stage.

Some wallets support dice roll ‘in house’. How secure can that possibly be?

I’ve seen dice roll as an option when setting up a new (hot) wallet. If the seed phrase is generated offline, but stored right in the wallet and visible with a click of a button, I question the security. This particular wallet has had no data breach or lost funds, that I can find, but the attacks of the last few weeks has me questioning everything! I’m going to keep my physical bitcoins in my pocket. It feels safer to me! 😅
I wasn't sure what "in house dice rolls" meant, and still not sure I do, but not important I guess. Definitely a good time to rethink how one secures funds. Last week was madness, checking feeds everyday wondering what else would surface.
@₿eth the passphrase is doing the quiet work there. it's the one input the device didn't generate, so a weak rng on the chip still doesn't hand anyone your coins by itself.
trust has been lost irrevocably. A new generation of cypherpunk hornets has just hatched.
