Ok if you were wondering what all those metadata image tests were about:
In the next build, Damus image uploads will save blurhash and image dimensions in the post, allowing clients to use this information to put a blurry placeholder that fades into the real image when it loads. How neat is that!? This is done in a backwards compatible way so clients can ignore this if they don’t need it, and urls won’t break! Check it out:

Damn, that’s super cool
That’s cool
👌
Slick!
That’s cool
Now do the same for NIP-94 quoted posts. Super easy.
I see you're using an android test app for this. Don't think I didn't notice 👀

🪄

damn! 😍
I don’t want to display images via quoted posts
This is so dope. Nicely done.
That’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥
That’s beautiful 😍
Also having the blurhash in the event allows me to start building the blurhash image immediately after I get the note over the wire.
very cool 🤙🏻💜
Nice. Looking forward to a less jump feed as the posts will be sized correctly and don’t expand mid scroll.
👍
I see what you did there. 🤙🏻
SICK!
94 reasons to like this feature
exactly! That’s the idea
But don't your users deserve to see it?
It's not about you.
PS: it would work for NIP 95 as well.
The gaslighting here is impressive.
I am implementing your stuff to please my users. It's funny that you think this is gaslighting.
Awesome, love it 🔥
This is dope!
This is the big win here. UX elements that move under your finger as a function of loading is my #1 pet peeve.
Great work #[4] #zapped
Yeah that’s a really nice effect. 🔥
I really like that
Do they even get notifications?
Woah that's cool
I like it! I implemented image loading for gossip client and was thinking it would be helpful to have metadata about the images. Also interesting would be to know if when several images are listed if the user intended them to be in a carousel (could be a metadata tag "suggest_carousel").
Oh dang that’s cool
Well done with this backwards compatible update.
Can blurhash be also used to check if the image has been changed or modified?
Each app could have a page where users can upvote feature requests? 🙂
